ASW owns some of the most sophisticated, efficient and flexible specialty steel refining equipment available today (AOD, VOD, VDG and wire fed LMF). This unique facility is capable of tight tolerance chemistry regulation through its state-of-the-art automatic alloy add program, fine trim wire feed system and modern quality control laboratories. ASW produces steel grades which include 300, 400, PH and Duplex series stainless steels; 1000 series carbon steels; 4100, 4300, 8600, and 9000 series alloy steels; and A36/44W high strength, low alloy steels. Conditioning, cutting and thermally treating primary products to offer defect free surfaces, clean cropped ends and special hardness tolerances all fall within the numerous services provided by ASW. The Welland Facility can produce billet 4.5” Sq (115mm), 5.125” Sq (130mm), 5.75” sq (147mm) and 8” x 10” bloom (200mm X 250mm) products up to 40 feet in length as well as square tapered and cylindrical ingots in sizes ranging from 13” in diameter to 46” square.
Located in Welland Ontario, ASW is strategically situated on the Canada-U.S. border with easy access to the provinces of Ontario and Quebec as well as the northeastern United States; a short haul from the majority of U.S. and Canadian steel markets. The Welland Facility has easy access to an extensive transportation network, which includes highway, rail, and barge. The facility has an onsite rail spur and has access to barge transportation via the Saint Lawrence Seaway feeding the Great Lakes Region. This diverse array of available transportation modes allows for efficient and cost effective receipt of raw material as well as distribution of finished goods making ASW Steel a supplier to be considered for all of your primary steel requirements.
