Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Millwright’s duties & responsibilities include the following:

  • Construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all types of steelmaking equipment including Electric Arc Furnaces; Vacuum Oxygen Refining System (VORS); Ladle Furnace; Vacuum Degas System (VDS); Vacuum Oxygen Decarburizer (VOD); Argon Oxygen Decarburizer (AOD); billet caster; grinders; annealing furnaces; diesel locomotives and overhead cranes.
  • Specifically: install, maintain and repair bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, pumps and compressors, hoists and other lifting devices, mobile equipment, fans and blowers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, etc.
  • Plans details of working procedure and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and the application of the theory of operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Inspects all mechanical equipment and cranes to determine material replacement needs and service requirements and reports all abnormal conditions and hazards as identified through preventive maintenance and inspection programs to the Maintenance Supervisor;
  • Analysis and interpretation of blueprints, drawings, manufacturers’ specifications and instructions and installations of all equipment to locate faults, determine repair or installation procedure and ascertain material needs.
  • Provides maintenance services, troubleshoot and solve various technical issues as they arise throughout the plant.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Must hold valid Industrial Mechanic/Millwright Trade Certification.
  • At least three years of experience working as an Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts (Sunday to Friday, days, nights, and afternoons), overtime as required and the occasional weekends.
  • Welding tickets and experience would be considered an asset.
  • Proven trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills, mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
  • Superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong safety track record.
  • A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else.

*This position pays $40.46 per hour and a shift premium is paid to employees working the afternoon shift ($0.35/hr) and the night shift ($0.55/hr).
